Building Information Modelling and Collaboration

Project Overview:

This project required my group and I to come up with a building and to create the MEP layout of the building. We had to first think of what design we wanted our building to look like and then proceed with the modelling and documentation. The project workflow is:

1. Massing + Core Development

2. Architectural Model

3. Architectural rooms and furniture layout (by level)

4. MEP Model

5. Federated (By level)

6. Documentation of whole project

MEP Model layout includes:

1. Lighting

2. Power

3. ACMV

4. Plumbing

5. Fire Protection

Learning Experience:

This project was one of the hardest and longest to complete due to it having so many parts. We ran into many problems such as massing as we did not know how to begin and modelling it to how we wanted it to look like was difficult as well. We had to brainstorm quite a few ideas before we settled on one. This project taught me many skills as not only was it like VDFP and interior layout modelling, I had to do MEP modelling which is really useful for me in the future. With this project, I believe my Revit skills have increased and improved tremendously even though I have a lot more to learn from.
